About Fortune Ntekati

Fortune Ntekati is a dynamic and seasoned broadcaster whose journey from community radio to provincial prominence stands as a testament to his passion, dedication, and natural flair behind the mic. Born in Naas Township outside Komatipoort, Ntekati developed a deep love for media at an early age, eventually turning his passion into a career that continues to inspire young broadcasters across the country.

After matriculating from Valencia Secondary School, he pursued a Media Studies qualification majoring in Radio Production at Micro Makro Technology — completing his studies in record time. His broadcasting journey began in 2008 at Eldos FM in Johannesburg, where he co-hosted the breakfast show. A year later, he joined Greater Middelburg FM, where he produced and hosted the afternoon drive show, voluntarily, for two years — further sharpening his craft.

In 2012, he joined Ligwalagwala FM, Mpumalanga’s largest radio station, as a host of two weekend shows: a Hip Hop Culture show on Friday nights and a Dance Music show on Saturdays. His authentic voice, music knowledge, and street-savvy style earned him a loyal listener base.

Three years later, his talent was rewarded with the prestigious weekday Afternoon Drive slot (3–6pm), where his show, Asambe, quickly became one of the most popular shows in the province. His excellence was officially recognized with a nomination at the 2020 Radio Awards under the “Best Afternoon Drive Show” category, competing against the country’s most respected broadcasters such as Glen Lewis (Radio 2000), Mhlobo Wenene, Thobela FM, and Lesedi FM.
