Ligwalagwala FM once again cemented its place among South Africa’s top radio powerhouses after receiving six nominations at the 2025 Telkom Radio Awards, held on Saturday 06 December 2025 at the Sandton Convention Centre. The glamorous ceremony brought together the country’s leading radio professionals, industry stakeholders, and top broadcasters to celebrate excellence in radio.
The station was nominated in the following categories: (1) Afternoon Drive Presenter – Fortune Ntekati (2) Afternoon Drive Show – Siyahamba Manje Drive (3) Community Project – Kusile Mzansi Breakfast (4) Content Producer – Collen Vusi Mabaso (5) Promotional Stunt/Event – Closing Off Transport Month (6) My Station – Most Loyal Votes.
Among the evening’s highlights, Ligwalagwala FM made history by winning one of the event’s most coveted accolades My Station – Most Loyal Votes. This marks the second time in the history of the Radio Awards that the station has claimed this honour, reinforcing its influence and deep-rooted connection with its listeners. The category was one of the most fiercely contested of the night, with major national broadcasters such as Ukhozi FM, RSG, Umhlobo Wenene FM, and Hot 1027 competing for the top spot. Securing this award is a profound testament to the unwavering loyalty and dedication of Ligwalagwala FM’s audience.
With the launch of SABC Plus, the station has extended its reach beyond Mpumalanga, making it increasingly easy for listeners across South Africa and abroad to tune in through digital platforms.
