LIGWALAGWALA FM CELEBRATES MANDELA DAY BY DONATING A HOUSE
Ligwalagwala FM continues to change lives of those less fortunate. This Mandela Day the station will hand over a newly built 4-bedroom house to the Khoza family in Oakley, Bushbuckridge in celebration of Mandela Day. The 18th of July 2022 will mark the beginning of a new life for the Khoza family in Oakley, Bushbuckridge. This is a family of three where the father is blind, and the eldest son of 30 years is mentally challenged.
It was through the caring efforts of the community that the dire conditions under which this family was surviving was brought to the attention of Masakhane “Let’s build each other”, a CSI feature meant to change lives on Kusile Mzantsi Breakfast Reloaded Show. The family of three that used to live in a two-room shack will now enjoy the comfort of a two-bedroom house with a kitchen and living room.
When the team visited the family for site inspection, it was hard to ignore the condition of the house. The team was touched and immediately decided to work on building a decent house for the family. Many people were approached to assist, and a couple of Good Samaritan came on board. Great appreciation goes to Supper B, the office of the Chief Whip in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, Community Ward Councillor, Mathibela Tribal Authority.
Through these efforts, the station aims to continue the Madiba legacy and spirit. The community of Oakley is set to witness the emotional handover of the noble gift next week Monday. A live broadcast of the breakfast show from the Khoza household will set the mood of celebration before the official hand over on 18 July 2022.
